The worship temple of Seti I contains great teachings into the mechanics of the Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses and how they relate to the mystic transformation of the human heart. In this series of lectures Sehu Khepera brings forth some of the essential aspects of the temple teachings, relates them to the human experience and highlights the great spiritual revelations and religious sophistication of Seti Ua, one of Ancient Egypts most revered sage priests. He, Seti Ua being one of the great saints to come to the world, not unlike Akhenaton, Mahatma Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, Sage Vyasa or Padmasambhava.

Sage Seti Ua was is one of the highest of the ancient Egyptian sages such as Sage Unas and Sage Akhunaton. In as such he is as great a spiritual personality as any other from all the traditions around the world. His son is Ramses II and his wife's name is Queen Tuya. His father's name is Ramses I. He was an accomplished high mystic as is evidenced from the work he had commissioned during his reign as King of Egypt. The picture above is the temple he had built which is the current topic of the Sunday lecture series by Sehu Khepera Ankh. The unique feature of the temple is that he had seven sanctuaries built sibe by side. Each one of the shrines is dedicated to a particular deity. They are Amun, Ra, Ptah, Asar, Aset, and Heru. There is also a special room dedicated to Amsu Min and secret teachings to the Goddess tradition were performed there, particulalry Sekhmet and Aset. He also commissioned the building of the great hypostyle hall at the Karnak Temple.
He was buried at the Valley of the Kings in the largest and perhaps the most significant tomb in the whole valley. It is the largest tomb in the valley. He was buried in a large sarcophagus which was hewn out of monlithic blocks of alabaster.
His body now lays in the Cairo Museum, his tomb is generally closed to the public and his worship temple is one of the most visited in all of Egypt.
Quote 1 from the second in a series of introductory lectures on the Teachings of Sage Seti I (1370BCE or earlier).
" Seti mer n Ptah, means Seti Beloved of Ptah; In other words Seti mer n Ptah, his words are righteous. These teachings therefore that are contained in this temple (Temple of Seti I at Abydos, Egypt), that are contained in his chapel in the Valley of the Kings, on his sarcophagus, and the words which he spoke when he was alive; these words are words of righteousness and truth. This Seti mer n Ptah, whose words are Maat comes directly out of the scripture that is related to him...So the point being made is that these teachings are righteous teachings. His words when he was alive, were righteous words, in other words, he was a sagely person; a person you could go to for advice, and council and righteousness; and a ruler of righteousness." Sehu Khepera Ankh
Quote 2 from the third in a series of introductory lectures on the Teachings of Sage Seti I (1370BCE or earlier).
This was the third part of the introduction to these lectures, however profound in its message and relevant in these turbulent times. The below picture is a portion of the powerpoint presentation given by Sehu Khepera that day and is the scripture that the following quote is referring to. The column is an original translation by Sehu Khepera.
"The scripture [from an entrance column of the temple of Sage Seti Ua] is saying that the ruler of the country is chosen by the ultimate source and he goes and he venerates the Divinity that is standing on the pedestal of Maat, then what kind of ruler would that be? What kind of person would that be and what kind of society would he create? It would be pristine and powerful and beautiful and long lasting. If you live by a philosophy like this then you cannot go wrong as a human being. The converse of that is living by the philosophy of the world. The ancient Egyptians knew full and well that human beings exist in a dichotomy. You can either create a culture of religion or you can create a culture of secularism. That choice was there even in ancient times. They chose to create a society of religion, culture, and philosophy that led human beings to peace.
And in your own life, you can live by a culture and philosophy that brings you to peace. Because no body is going to do it for you except for your spiritual teacher and other people around you that are trying to do the same thing. You are all alone. And if you are going to try and find peace by associating with someone who does not have that peace, are you going to find peace? It's impossible.
The peace of a sage is a peace where you're resting in your center of pure and immovable peace. It is not peace of mind, it is not a relaxed mind. That is ephemeral, that is transitory. Hetep means that there is a peace that is always there underlying every thought, every action that you perform in life. There is always an underlying essence of peace, no matter what it is...And you think you cannot find it and that is another lie you may be telling yourself. It can be found anywhere, anytime, by anyone because it is the essential nature of your being. It is an inseparable aspect of your inner self. So all that needs to be done is to open the right doors, turn on the right lights and the peace is right there...
You were born from the light of God because you were chosen."
~Sehu Khepera Ankh
Quote 3 from the fourth in a series of introductory lectures on the Teachings of the Venerable Seti Ua of ancient Egypt.
"If you live your life by these teachings then whatever you say out of your mouth will be good. Why? Because you will be uttering words of Divinity. The teachings that we are discussing have an author. The first author, the first teacher, whose name is Djehuty. He was given that duty by Khepera. Khepera assigned him the conception {and the} idea to write the teachings down...The teachings came from the creator to the temples, to the priest and priestesses, to the lay people who became initiates, who became priests and priestesses, and it should go that way continuously. The idea here is that when you talk, you must talk on the teachings, you must become well versed in them so that you can understand them...For us, our holy place is Kemet. That is our holy land...Sage Seti Ua is no less magnanimous that Jesus. Sage Seti Ua is just as high, just as magnanimous, just as precious, just as powerful in his extrapolation of closeness and oneness in the teachings of Divinity than any sage from any religion at any time in history. And we visited and his Khat (body). How would it be for a Christian person to see Moses or Muslim person to see Muhammad body? And so for us, when we see Seti Ua, there is a deep and profound feeling of attunement, inner peace and harmony and being in the presence of the Divine."
Sehu Khepera Ankh
The above depiction was the topic of lecture three and four of the Seti Ua series. This carving is on the outer porch of the temple. The hyroglyphics on the wall was deciphered by Sehu Kehepra and he gave two lectures on its inner meaning and spiritual significance. The depiction shows Seti Ua propitiating Asar.
This following quote from Sehu Khepera is taken from the fifth introductory lecture in the teachings of Seti Ua (Seti I). Preceeding the lecture Sehu Khepera spoke the above depiction hyroglyohics in the native lanuage and gave a discourse on the inner meaning of the text. The below quote was part of the introduction to that lecture.
"We are here practicing what is called Smai Tawi. Smai Tawi means to unify two lands. The lands we are speaking of are the dual natures of a human being, that is the higher and lower nature of a human being. We have these two aspects that exist as facets of your personality that you can not escape out of except to be liberated from them. In other words to become liberated from your personality. How you do that is by the practice of Smai Tawi which is roughly translated to mean Yoga...Yoga means to unite or to yoke individual consciousness with universal consciousness, with God consciousness, in other words. And this same understanding comes through Smai Tawi. If you were to understand that your lower nature is within the realm of humanhood.....The higher nature is your Divine consciousness, the higher aspect of yourself, your being, which is your true nature. Your lower aspects are aberrations, they are untruths; they are illusionary expressions of the ego. They are not aspects of yourself that you should develop and venerate and look foward to living out of. The reason for this is because the lower aspects of your being are within the realm of pain and pleasure. And whenever you have a pain you are going to have a pleasure and whenever you have a pleasure you are going to have a pain. And the reason for that is because you exist within the realm of duality. "
The above is inside the temple. It is of the perpendicular hall directly in fromt of the 7 shrines. The shrine entrances are to the right (not directly visible). Lectures are now being given on the interior of the temple; a quote from the first interior lecture is presented below.
"We have a special way that we have to approach the teachings of Seti Ua, because his teachings are not written on papyrus paper. They are written in the temple that he had built. Within the inner shrines they are certain writings on the wall, these are the high teachings. The highest teachings are not in the temple, they are performed in the temple; there is a difference...The highest teachings come about through practice of the discipline. There is a difference between reading something and experiencing what you've read....You can't shatter your prejudice by only reading, you have to experience the universal consciousness of humanity and the Divine Self to do that. So what Sage Seti Ua did was a marvellous conception; is that in the same area where there was a more ancient temple, the one to to Asar, called the Asarian, which probably you're directly descended from one of those people, that built that. This temple has seven major shrines, but we are going to talk mostly about the six shrines to the cosmic forces, the Divinities....has them layed out in parallel form and these are the shrines to Amun, Ra and Ptah and Asar, Aset and Heru. So in the same area you have six Divinities that you can worship. And if you can imagine how the temple was in ancient times...in the morning you have to go and unbolt the door of the inner shrine and open the door in the inner shrine to propitiate the energy of the Divinity for the day, the beating of drums and the lighting of incesne and the giving of offerings and the chanting of hymns. And if you have six Divinities in the same place, can you imagine the great power that must have been there?"
